Friday August 7

Arrive at camp between 4pm-6pm to set up camp and settle into location.

Setting up Ancestral Shrine
Please Bring:

  • photos (copies as originals often get damaged)

  • powerful objects for the shrine. 

  • Bring any red cloth for building the shrine.

6:30pm Dinner by the River 

7:30pm Invocation to the Water Spirits

Saturday, August 8th

7am - 9am Dream Tending and Breakfast (some may wish to fast)

9:15am - 11am Building an Earth/Nature Shrine
Preparing a path to the water. Personal Ritual/ Collective Village.

11am(ish) Drumming Opens the Water Ritual

WATER RITUAL

This Water Ritual is Celebrating the life and Healing Work of our Dagara Elder, Touré

Part 1: Collective Cleansing at the River

1pm(ish) break for nourishment and hydration.
(No formal meal until ritual is complete.)

Part 2: Personal Grieving, Prayers, Bundles and Celebration at the water.

As Malidoma would say, the ritual has its own life force- it ends when it ends. You will feel the completion rise inside of you. This is to say, some may want to stay in connection with the water for a long while, and others may feel chilly and in need of food! 

6pm Dinner

7pm(ish) Village Speak

Sunday, August 9th

7am - 9am Dream Tending and Breakfast

9:30am Village Speak/ Water wrap up

11am Dismantle Village/Closure of Shrines

12pm LUNCH

Departure when the site is cleaned up, and all are welcome to spend the day at the river and chill.

WHAT TO BRING

  • A Tent for Camping

  • Sleeping Bag + Pillow

  • Ground pad / air mattress (if sleeping in tent)

  • Flashlight or headlamp and extra  batteries for walking at night

  • Solar Showers if you want a warm shower instead of dipping in the river or a hot pot of water from the village fire.

  • All biodegradable suds like Dr. Bronner’s for soap

  • Organic toothpaste, toothbrush, etc.

  • Insect repellent 

  • Hat, visor, bathing suit, towel and sunscreen

  • A light jacket, sweater or shawl for early morning river meditation. 

  • Late evenings-think light layers; it is August in Colorado.

  • Rain gear; again, it is the Rocky Mountains. 

  • Sturdy sandals and/or walking shoes- all areas of the village are connected by a network of earthen trails. Some trails are steep-ish and can be slippery

  • A water bottle for refilling as desired. Electrolytes and extra snacks.

  • Mug for coffee, tea, etc

  • Personal First Aid Kit (sharing is good)

  • Camp chair

  • A dream journal and pens

  • Small day pack or tote bag
